Chlorine Green!

So, it’s August and you can’t get enough of the pool….I’m with you, I wish summer would never end and I love to swim on a great pool.  For my blonde buds, this is the month the green monster tends to appear.  You’ve been swimming for a few weeks now and the chlorine build up on your hair is turning your Goldie Lox into Kermit colored crud.  Don’t fret, there a few quick and simple solutions.
Adding baking soda to your shampoo will help remove the chlorine build up and so will washing with apple cider vinegar.  Both of these remedies will take a few applications, but definitely work. However if you need a quick, one application remedy to remove the chlorine green, its ketchup!
Yep, Ketchup, tomato paste or even plain spaghetti sauce wil remove the chlorine green from your hair with just one application.  Wash your hair first and then thickly apply the ketchup and comb through so it is evenly applied from root to tips.  Let it sit for 20 minutes, then rinse, wash and condition your hair as normal.  No More Green!
Now if you want to prevent the chlorine build up in the first place, simply wet your hair with clean fresh water before you hit the pool.  If your hair is saturated with clean water first, it will not be able to absorb the chlorine chemicals.  This is a great tip no matter your hair color, because the chlorine is so drying and damaging.
You can do it!
